BOMONTÄ° APARTMENTS

Ä°STANBUL     |     2011     |     20.000  M²     |     EXTENSA Ä°STANBUL

The aim of the project is to design a "low-rise rather than high-rise" residential building that is respectful to the surrounding context as well as maximizing the saleable floor area within the local permit regulations. The design approach has been influenced by the local context – the principal elevations face East and West – and have different design solutions to each aspect. The eight storey building has 87 apartments and 9 retail units at street levels. The retail units are ideal for small cafes, restaurants or specialist food shops. Natural materials used externally on the facades, including stone and timber, provide an authenticity and a sense of permanence to the design. Nominated, Aga Khan Award for Architecture 2013. Construction completed in 2012. ©Swanke Hayden Connell Mimarlık
