ATAÅžEHÄ°R URBAN REGENERATION

Ä°STANBUL     |     2014     |     9 HA     |     300.000  M²     |     GÜNERÄ° Ä°NÅžAAT

The land is located in the south-west of AtaÅŸehir Finance Center. It is envisaged that the place can create an attraction by creating a noticeable gap on the urban texture where all the surrounding is high and dense. The free spaces are surrounded by a limited number of high blocks, strongly emphasizing the existence of the project in the region. When determining the density approach, the blocks were prevented from shading each other and it was aimed to reach a density similar to a more suburban context. The inner courtyards designed for residences create safe recreation areas for residents, while the roof slopes of the buildings and the spaces between them provide a visual connection between the courtyards. The basic principle of the study is to transform the square into a shopping and recreation area that operates seven days a week by gathering different building functions from their own front squares into a main square. ©Swanke Hayden Connell Mimarlık
